Methodology & Verification

Documenting armed violence against Papuan civilians and the money that flows behind it

What we record

We record armed incidents targeting civilians in Tanah Papua: shootings, executions, arson, hostage-taking, and attacks on public facilities such as schools, health posts, roads and pioneer aviation.

Where the data comes from

Every entry draws on open sources: national and local reporting, security force releases, human rights statements, court documents and verifiable witness accounts. Each entry carries its source links.

How we verify

An entry is marked verified when supported by at least two independent sources, or one official source corroborated by reporting. Entries resting on a single claim, or on disputed figures, are marked under review and excluded from final totals.

Our limits

We publish no victim names without a public basis, make no allegation against an individual without a document, and publish no entry whose source cannot be traced. Map points indicate reported districts, not exact locations.

Corrections

Where an error is found, the entry is corrected with a visible note. We do not silently delete entries.
